The kitchen is in pieces,
the coffee maker’s in the bathroom.
The living room’s been torn to shreds,
the couch has been overturned.
Bed bugs prowl the bedrooms,
looking for their next meal.
The pipes in the basement keep leaking,
but the plumber can’t find the source.
The lights in the closet continue to flicker,
the bulb is cracked.
The paint on the outside chips away,
the gutters are full.
These are the cracks of time,
And all you can do
is avoid the broken glass.
