Outrage Culture Has Come For ‘Seinfeld’ And I Won’t Have It
A new Youtube video sparks outrage over ‘Seinfeld’, but their anger can’t kill my love for this TV classic
On November 19, 2018, The Fine Bros released a Youtube video entitled: “Do Teens & College Kids Think Seinfeld is Funny? | Does it Hold up?”
With over 18 million subscribers to date, The Fine Bros have become famous for their reaction videos. The formula is always the same: they’ll gather a certain demographic, show them clips of movies, TV shows or music videos, and then record their reactions. They tend to pick controversial content that will spur an interesting reaction — like forcing a bunch of senior citizens to sit through Cardi B’s latest rap single.
Their video about Seinfeld is the first in a new series where millennials are shown episodes of older TV shows and asked, “Does this hold up to today’s standards?”
In the brightly-lit studio, eight college kids saw various iconic Seinfeld episodes like The Merv Griffin Show, The Contest, The Soup Nazi, The Cigar Store Indian, and The Outing. Each episode featured somewhat controversial material such as Jerry drugging a girl, Jerry being racially insensitive, and Jerry and George being falsely outed as a gay couple.
